Orius insidiosus

Regular price $99.99 Sale

This minute pirate bug (Orius insidiosus) will consume all developmental stages of thrips. These insects can be very effective as each bug eats about 12 thrips per day but will also kill an additional 45 thrips per day. Orius will also eat other pest bugs and can survive on the pollen of flowering plants when food is scarce. Orius pair well with other thrip predators such as A. cucumeris and A. degenerans.

Dosage - The information given here is a general guideline. Release rates can be affected by the stage/size of the cannabis plant, climate conditions, and level of infestation.

For preventative applications use 1-2 Orius per ft², weekly for three weeks as soon as there is sufficient flowering. Treat hotspot outbreaks at a dosage of 5-10 Orius per ft², weekly for a minimum of two weeks or until biological balance has been achieved. We highly recommend treating your cannabis crop preventatively in the vegetative stages.

 Release Method

Inspect product for viability upon receipt.

Your Orius insidiosus will arrive in 250ml or 500ml plastic bottle. To release, carefully open the bottle's lid and gently transfer the Orius into bio-boxes. Hang the bioboxes evenly throughout the crop, on lower branches to avoid direct light. Do not disturb for several days to allow the adult bugs to breed. We highly recommend using nutricards with Orius as this greatly increases the health of the population. Add one card to each biobox and store any extra nutricards in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Please contact us within 24 hours of receipt if there are any concerns with your product.

We recommend immediate release of the Orius insidiosus.

If immediate release is not possible, the Orius should be kept at 8-10°c for the least amount of time possible.
