Phytoseiulus persimilis is a fast, active, and thorough predator of two-spotted spider mites. Even in nymphal form this true killer will eat it's favorite spider mite meal. Once all their prey have been devoured the P. persimilis will die as they cannot go long without prey. These predatory mites thrive at temperatures between 20°c and 30°c and can survive greenhouse high temperatures up to 37°c These mites pair well with Amyblyseius californicus.
Dosage - The information given here is a general guideline. Release rates can be affected by the stage/size of the cannabis plant, climate conditions, and level of infestation.
For preventative applications use 4-6 mites per ft².
We always recommend treating your plants when they are small and in a vegetative stage. Beneficials work best in preventative and light infestations. For infestation treatments use a minimum of 20 mites per ft², treating weekly until biological balance has been achieved. For plants that are in the early weeks of flower (1-3) bioboxes are recommended to prevent the sawdust carrier from sticking to the sticky flower sites.
Sample coverage areas for a light infestation:
2,000 mites - covers 100 ft², with plants 1 - 3 ft tall or 2,000 mites - covers 10-12 cloning trays
10,000 mites - covers 500 ft², with plants 1 - 3 ft tall
20,000 mites - covers 1000 ft², with plants 1 - 3 ft tall
*** Repeat treatment weekly until pests are under control
Inspect product for viability upon receipt. Please contact us within 24 hours of receipt if there are any concerns with your product.
Your Phytoseiulus persimilis will arrive in a 250ml, 500ml, or 1L plastic bottle. Before distribution in a crop, warm the product to room temperature. Once warm gently rotate the bottle horizontally to distribute the mites.
If the cannabis plants are in the vegetative stage simply remove the cap and broadcast the mites and saw dust carrier material over the canopy of your space concentrating on infected areas.
If the plants are in the flowering stage transfer the P. persimilis gently into bio-boxes. Hang the bioboxes evenly throughout the crop, on lower branches to avoid direct light. Using bioboxes in flower will prevent the sawdust carrier from sticking to the flower sites.
If the plants to be treated are in cloning trays, remove one pod from the center of the tray and replace it with a small plastic measuring cup or shot glass. Place the product in the cup and the Phyto will crawl out of the cup and through the tray in search of prey.
We recommend immediate release of your P. persimilis.
If immediate release is not possible, you may store these predatory mites at a temperature of 6-8°c (or in the fridge) for up to five days. The easiest was to achieve the optimal temperature is to leave the bugs in the Styrofoam shipping cooler and replace the ice pack each day. Make sure the product container is not touching the ice pack directly as this can harm the live predators.
