Aphelinus abdominalis

Aphelinus abdominalis

Regular price $79.99 Sale

The Aphelinus abdominalis is a parasitic wasp that works well for prevention, and low to medium infestations of aphids. These small wasps will work in cool and low light conditions. Once they have been established the frequency of releases can be reduced. These flying beneficials work by the adult females inserting their eggs inside of an aphid host. Once the eggs hatch the larvae eat the aphid from the inside out. The deceased aphid then becomes the perfect mummified home for the wasp to pupate. Adult wasps will emerge from the aphid carcass when ready.

With any beneficial wasp yellow sticky traps should not be used.

Dosage - The information given here is a general guideline. Release rates can be affected by the stage/size of the cannabis plant, climate conditions, and level of infestation.

For preventative or light infestations use 0.5 wasps per 2 ft². For medium infestations use 1 wasp per 2 ft². Note that A. abdominals is a long lasting beneficial however, it is not fast acting. For faster control use A. ervi and A. aphidimyza. In the case of heavy infestations use A. bipunctata.

Release Method

To release your A. abdominalis carefully remove the lid from your 30ml or 100ml plastic bottle. Gently pour out mummies onto rockwool plastic, leaves, or bio-boxes in hotspots. If using for prevention simply distribute the mummies encasing the wasps evenly throughout the crop.

Storage

We recommend releasing these beneficials immediately upon receipt.
