The Eretmocerus eremicus is a parasitic wasp that can be used to control and prevent whitefly. Adult female search out clusters of whitefly eggs and larvae and lay their eggs near or under them. Once the eggs hatch the wasp larvae enter the whitefly host by eating their way in from the outside. This behaviour weakens the whitefly and eventually kills it. This beneficial is often used in conjunction with the Encarsia formosa. This beneficial is attracted to yellow sticky traps so they must not be deployed during use of E. eremicus.

Dosage - The information given here is a general guideline. Release rates can be affected by the stage/size of the cannabis plant, climate conditions, and level of infestation.

For preventative applications introduce 1 wasp per ft². For infestation treatments introduce 6 wasps per ft².

Release Method

For E. eremicus arriving on cards - hang cards 60-90 cm below the canopy (or hang right on the side of the pot), out of direct sunlight, distributing evenly throughout the crop. Shortly after the cards are hung the wasps will emerge.

For E. eremicus arriving as loose pupae distribute evenly thought the crop by placing them on dry leaves or in bio-boxes. If using bioboxes, hang a minimum of 30cm from the base of the plant.

For the E. eremicus and E. formosa mixes use the same release method.

We recommend immediate release of E. eremicus upon receipt.

If immediate release is not possible, the E. eremicus can be kept at 6-8°c, (in a plastic container to maintain the proper moisture) for up to 5 days. Do not refrigerate.

For the E. eremicus and E. formosa mixes use the same storage method.
